Emedinews:Inspiration:The Duck and the Devil

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.

He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.

Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck Square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, " Sally, let's wash the Dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go Fishing and Grandma said, “I’m sorry but I need Sally to help make Supper." Sally just smiled and said," Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally Went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's, He finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, “Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day and every day thereafter?

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil Keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad Habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.) ....whatever it is....You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing..... He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and Mercy that we are saved. Always remember: God is at the window.

• The word "integrity" stems from the Latin adjective "integer" meaning whole and complete. In the context of medical professional, integrity is the inner sense of "wholeness" of a doctor deriving from qualities such as honesty and consistency of character. As such, one may judge that others "have integrity" to the extent that they act according to the values, beliefs and principles they claim to hold. Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, transparency, expectations, and outcomes.
• In medical ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions in medical care delivery in the form of diagnosis and therapeutic intervention. Integrity can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy in that it regards internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs.
• One essential aspect of a consistent framework is its avoidance of any unwarranted or arbitrary exceptions for a particular doctor especially the doctor that holds the framework in medical setup. In law, this principle of universal application requires that even those in positions of official power be subject to the same laws as pertain to their fellow person.
• In personal ethics, this principle requires that one should not act according to any rule that one would not wish to see universally followed. For example, one should not steal unless one would want to live in a world in which everyone was a thief.
• Speaking about integrity can emphasize the "wholeness" or "intactness" of a moral stance or attitude. Wholeness may also emphasize commitment and authenticity. Integrity "does not consist of loyalty to one’s subjective whims, but of loyalty to rational principles and practice of medicine in the interest of patient and public at large that strictly apply in medicolegal cases
• In a formal study of the term "integrity" and its meaning in modern ethics, Law. Professor Carter sees integrity not only as a refusal to engage in behavior that evades responsibility, but also as an understanding of different modes or styles in which discourse attempts to uncover a particular truth/fact in public interest. Carter writes that integrity requires three steps: "discerning what is right and what is wrong; acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost; and saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong." He regards integrity as being distinct from honesty.

Emedinews:Inspiration:Things change, keep up your faith

 For most people, graduation is an exciting day – the culmination of years of hard work. My graduation day… was not.

 I remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had flown in from across the country to watch our class walk across that stage. But like everyone else in my graduating class, I had watched the economy turn from bad to worse my senior year. We graduates had degrees, but very limited prospects. Numerous applications had not panned out and I knew that the next day, when my lease ended, I would no longer have a place to call home.

 The weeks ahead weren’t easy. I gathered up everything I couldn’t carry and put it into storage. Then, because I knew my small university town couldn’t offer me any opportunities, I packed up my car and drove to Southern California to find work. But what I thought would take a week dragged into two, and then four, and 100 job applications later, I found myself in the exact same spot as I was before. And the due date to begin paying back my student loans was creeping ever closer.

 You know that feeling when you wake up and you are just consumed with dread? Dread about something you can’t control – that sense of impending failure that lingers over you as you hope that everything that happened to you thus far was just a bad dream? That feeling became a constant in my life.

 Days felt like weeks, weeks like months, and those many months felt like an unending eternity of destitution. And the most frustrating part was no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t seem to make any progress.

 So what did I do to maintain my sanity? I wrote. Something about putting words on a page made everything seem a little clearer – a little brighter. Something about writing gave me hope. And if you want something badly enough… sometimes a little hope is all you need!

 I channeled my frustration into a children’s book. ‘Beyond the River’ was the story of an unlikely hero featuring a little fish who simply refused to give up on his dream.

 And then one day, without any sort of writing degree or contacts in the writing world – just a lot of hard work and perseverance – I was offered a publishing contract for my first book! After that, things slowly began to fall into place. I was offered a second book deal. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with The Walt Disney Company and was hired shortly after.

 The moral of this story is… Don’t give up. Even if things look bleak now, don’t give up. Two years ago I was huddled in my car drinking cold soup right out of the can. Things change.

 If you work hard, give it time, and don’t give up, things will always get better. Oftentimes our dreams lie in wait just a little further upstream… all we need is the courage to push beyond the river.

• Any doctor who is qualified by medical council and renders emergency care or treatment to a person suffering or appearing to suffer from cardiac arrest, which may include the use of an automated external defibrillator, in good faith and without compensation, shall be immune from civil liability for any personal injury as a result of care or treatment or as a result of any act or failure to act in providing or arranging further medical treatment where the person acts as an ordinary prudent person would have acted under the same or similar circumstances, except damages that may result for the gross negligence of the person rendering emergency care. This immunity shall extend to the licensed physician.
• If a doctor passes the scene of an accident in which some person has been injured and is in need of urgent medical attention he would not be held to have been negligent if he does not render assistance, as no doctor/patient relationship has been established and in consequences the doctor owes the patient no legal duty.
• If, however, the doctor goes to the assistance of a person who is injured in an accident, a doctor /patient relationship is at once established. When any physician gratuitously advises medical personnel at the scene of an emergency episode by direct voice contact, to render medical assistance based upon information received by voice or biotelemetry equipment, the actions ordered taken by the physician to sustain life or reduce disability shall not be considered liable when the actions are within the established medical procedures.
• A doctor has a duty to exercise reasonable skill and care regardless of whether or not his services are being given gratuitously. A national health policy is required to be formulated to render emergency treatment to a person.
• If such a practitioner fails to attend an emergency call and a complaint is made against him it may well be that some disciplinary action will be taken against him by the health authority/medical council.

Emedinews:Inspiration:That little girl

 Have you ever not wanted to do something so badly that you would rather die than go? Well that’s how I felt about joining Madcaps and volunteering at Saint Vincent De Paul Homeless shelter.

 But now I believe that you should have an open mind to things because in the end you might just end up enjoying it.

 “It’s a waste of time”, I said when my mom told I had to join Madcaps, a mothers and daughters club assisting philanthropies, and then when she told me I had to volunteer at a homeless shelter I thought this just could not get worse.

 We got there late, of course, and walked to the dirty homeless shelter, where we saw a lady yelling at the security guard. He dealt with her and then led us to the kitchen where we ran into my five fellow Madcaps class of 2017 mothers and daughters. Since I’m usually so socially awkward I had met only one person at the pool party, earlier this year. I looked around for her but she was not there. Damn, I was alone!

 When the head of the kitchen came out and asked for 3 mothers to work outside the kitchen to clean up the plates and silverware, my mom just so happened to volunteer, leaving me to serve food with people I had never met before.

 Soon the homeless families started to walk in and a little girl, around 5 years old, walked up and pointed to the food I was handing out. I handed her the cold sandwich, wrapped in the sticky plastic, she nodded in a form of saying thanks, and then walked to join her family at the large table.

 As she walked away I thought of how much I had. I get to go to one of the top schools in San Diego, I have a great house by the water, and I have a warm meal every night. Then I thought of how little she had. She probably didn’t go to school, and this is where she sleeps and eats every day. It took that little girl to make me realize just how lucky I am.

 After that moment I had a change of heart. Now, I love Madcaps and don’t miss one meeting, I have gotten over being socially awkward and now have many friends, who I hang out with on a regular basis. And this year I am sure I will do more than the required 20 hours of philanthropies.

 I believe that if you have an open mind about things you can learn a lot about yourself and the people in your community, you can make new friends and realize just how lucky you are. I believe that if you have an open mind to things you can accomplish more and become a better rounded person. I believe you can make a difference just by doing one thing you don’t want to do.

• Delusion is a false belief in something without any basis and the belief cannot be removed from the mind of the sufferer. It is rather persistent, even after the falsity of the belief is clearly demonstrated or explained with possible arguments. It reduces the power of reasoning and understanding capacity which leads a person to commit some act/crime.
• When a person does some act due to the direct effect of delusion he suffers from, then he will not be held responsible for that act.
• In an insane person, the false belief is persistent and cannot be removed in any way. Also, in delusional beliefs, mass or a section of people is not involved.
• Delusion indicates some sort of mental abnormality which is more commonly found in some severe mental illness like schizophrenia, manic depressive psychosis, paranoid psychosis etc.
• Some false beliefs and understandings are not unusual in normal healthy persons. For a sane person there must become reasonable basis for that and after reasonable arguments, explanations and demonstration he can be convinced about the falsity of his belief.

Emedinews:Inspiration:There's always another way to the Problem

A Mother was reading a magazine and her cute little daughter every now and then distracted her.

To keep her busy, she tore one page on which was printed the map of the world.

She tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.

She was sure her daughter would take a lot more time and probably whole of day to get it done.

But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map.

When she asked how she could do it so quickly, she said,
"Oh Mom, there is a man's face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right." she ran outside to play leaving the mother surprised.

Moral : Perhaps there is always the other side to whatever you experience in this world.

This story indirectly teaches a lesson.That is:
Whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, Look at the other side...
&
Will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem or an acute difficulty
