Definition
Blood components are various parts of blood like red blood cells, platelets, granulocytes and plasma separated from one another by conventional blood bank method of centrifugation because of their different specific gravities.
Cellular components
  • Red blood cells (RBC) or packed red cells (PCV)
  • Leukocyte depleted red cells
  • Platelet concentrate
  • Platelet apheresis
  • Leukocyte depleted platelet concentrate
  • Lekocyte apheresis
Plasma components
  • Fresh frozen plasma
  • Cryoprecipitate
  • Cryo-poor plasma
