Where is the concept of mass prayer gone?

One someone dies in the family we mourn for thirteen days. We follow a mass prayer on the 4th or the 13th day. The head of the family leads the prayer.

In Uttarakhand disaster the immediate head of the family is CM and the final head is the PM or the President.

National Disaster Management Authority vice-chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy has stated that the number of missing persons could be over 11, 600.

Where is the mass chautha, terevi or even the mass prayer by the head of the family.

What can be done?

1. Mass prayer by the CM and the PM 

2. President to address the nation starting with an appeal for one minute silence to be observed by every citizen of India.

3. All spiritual GURUS to gather in one platform and observe silence and do a peace prayer/yagna.
